Overview/
Purpose :

To introduce all aspects of the fast-growing sport of kayaking.

Topics:

• how to plan and implement a kayaking trip into the backcountry
• paddling techniques
• types of kayaks
• selection of paddles
• PFD's
• safety and rescue (Coast Guard regulations)
• camping gear and clothing
• menus, and,
• trip planning.

 
The program will conclude with a wilderness kayak trip.  Partial outfitting and kayak rentals available.

Duration:

• 2 evening sessions, plus
• a weekend trip

Misc:

An additional fee will be charged for O.R.C.A. qualifications, ($ tba), to those participants who choose to certify.
